Too. Fucking. Long.
God this was fucking boring.
Jesus Christ this was boring. I tried going into it with an open mind - depsite my misgivings about Eric Calpton - but it was just the most soulless "blues" imaginable. Shite.

Too. Fucking. Long.
Assumed this was going to be absolutely shite 80s/90s alt rock in the vein of Pearl Jam etc., was pleasantly surprised.
Interesting album, but the covers blow
Bare boomers giving this album hate because it doesn't have a guitar on it, but it's a modern classic, and incredibly influential.
Went into this with high expectations. As others have noted, if it'd been half the length it would've been a more powerful collection of songs. Some of these covers are shite, some are really good. So a 3 I shall be rating.
Dithered over rating this a two but in the end decided that's what I deserves. Frank's voice and the arrangements and lyrics are decent, but every single sounds the fucking same, and it makes for a very boring listening experience.
Like being spoonfed warm diarrhoea.
Two decent singles can't save this from being an absolute snooze fest. I've no doubt Garbage inspired countless imitators (looking at you beabadoobee, Wolf Alice et al.) but it's pretty bland stuff for me.
Went into it expecting to hate it, but it was actually pretty good. John Lydon is a talentless hack, so I can only imagine this album is decent despite his involvement. In fact, the music is the best bit, the vocals are sort of there...so kind of proves my point.
Given the poor rating and reviews I thought I'd hate this. I actually quite enjoyed it. I think a few people need to learn that decent music can be produced by people who are a) not men; and b) don't play rock.
I can't quite put my finger on it, but I found something very cringeworthy about this one. The crowd laughing and cheering at lame, unfunny asides and jokes. The stories. Tom Waits' voice generally. Maybe I'll enjoy his other records more when they come up.
I get the feeling their other albums might be better?
Yeah, it's kind of meandering and a bit long, but I'm surprising myself by giving this a 3. I fucking hate country, but don't mind this (maybe because it's 'country rock'?). Maybe the album's shite but my expectations were so low the final score has been inflated? That is the mystery of the 1,001 Albums Generator.
Really wanted to enjoy this but outside of about two songs it was shite. Utterly dull.
God this was fucking boring.
I actually quite like the Pet Shop Boys, but this was tedious shite.
Enjoyed Rumours but this thing fucking dragged.
I was excited by the prospect of a Bee Gees album, having heard various songs of theirs over the years. However, this was fucking maudlin dreck. Goodness only knows how bad their other output must be for this to have been worthy of inclusion on the list.
Again, musically excellent but held back from 5 stars by the presence of talentless hack John Lydon.
This is kind of a cool album, and as much as I enjoy unusual music, for some reason it wasn't for me.
I quite like The Specials but this album felt a bit naff for some reason?
My enjoyment - 3/5 I can see what she was going for - 4/5
Saw this was another early-00s album by a British band described as being "indie rock" and thought it'd be more absolute dreck. However, like a lot of other listeners, I was pleasantly surprised! Not sure what happened to them as a band, but this release is well worth a listen!
I had this album when I was like 12 and remember trying to convince myself I liked it so I hadn't wasted my money. Two decades later it still doesn't really get better than the singles.
Ten years ago I'd have given this 4. But now, given his domestic violence conviction (for which he's been completely unapologetic) and some of the lyrics here the whole thing just feels a bit gross.
I've never really understood the hype for this album. It has some really solid songs, but Thundercat's weedy falsetto is too annoying to carry an album this long, and there's a lot of filler.
Boring af
In The Aeroplane Over The Sea for Boomers
I enjoyed this to an extent, but it is way too long
Thought I'd enjoy this more than I did. I'm no stranger to long compositions, but this kind of dragged a bit.
Not as bad as some of the country shite on this list, but still a bit boring.
I was 10 when this came out but have heard some of the tracks over the years. I went into the album fully expecting to hate it but was pleasantly surprised!
Maybe it's Elvia Costello fatigue at this point (six EC albums in so far) but this felt boring and shite and went on for far too long.
Not as bad as some of their albums, but still fairly turgid shite at times. Having listened to four of their albums at the moment I honestly don't understand their enduring success/appeal. They've usually got about one or two decent songs per album, and then a slew of bilge.
Sounds like a guy taking a shit while wandering around a warehouse hitting things.
When I saw this was 70mins long I thought my world had ended. I can't say I'll ever listen to it again, but it wasn't that bad.
Yeah, nah, wore out its welcome after a while tbh
Thought I'd enjoy this more than I did. Singles were decent, rest was kind of boring.
Not terrible, but definitely not good. A shame because I think his work with PiL was banging. However, this is a bit shite.
Jesus Christ this was boring. I tried going into it with an open mind - depsite my misgivings about Eric Calpton - but it was just the most soulless "blues" imaginable. Shite.
