Adele's first two albums are fine however this one is where here music starts to sound like it solely exists so there's something to play in shops or on the radio so that there's some pleasant noise going on that won't get irritating after hearing it 50 times. Hard to imagine anyone actually sitting down and listening to something like Water Under the Bridge on purpose.
i'm not an expert on electronic music but surely this can't be the absolute pinnacle of the genre. surely there must be better stuff out there that would deserve a spot on this list more than this boring repetitive mess.
Sometimes you listen to dozens of identical sounding British bands for this project and you start asking yourself why you're even doing this and then you get a gem like this and it's all worth it.
You could make the case for pretty much any other Lana album to be included - the universally loved Norman Fucking Rockwell was right there! - but Chemtrails Over the Country Club is probably the worst choice. Apart from Wild at Heart none of the songs are particularly good or even memorable, it's some of the weakest writing and I feel like even the biggest Lana defenders don't care for it. Yet another baffling entry in this project.
