Great performances, but understandably enough the lyrics are dated and in places some may find them offensive.
A longtime favorite that bears repeated listening.Energetic and Informed.
Definitely not (to my taste).
Classic southern rock.
Horrible opening song but does improve somewhat. Seems like a lesser ancestor of My Life in the Bush of Ghosts.
One classic tune.
Some classics mixed with some not so classics.
Far from heaven.
Much to my surprise, I rather enjoyed this.
Album is a one-trick pony, but it's a great trick.

4.5. Half star off for Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
Three or four good songs but the rest is Rattus No.
Love this album. Endlessly listenable.
Just beautiful.
Ecstasy it is.
Divine? No. Comedy? Perhaps. Short album? Not short enough.
Just seeing the album pop up in my feed put a smile on my face. This one is a six.
Stone cold classic.
Torture.
Fabulous songs surrounded by too much filler.
I tried.
One of the finest debuts by one of the finest singers.
Wonderful discovery.
Who's best.
I couldn't cope.
The mystery is why did this get on the list.
Some kind of wonderful. Still my favorite Dire Straits album.
I love Cheap Trick, but this isn't their best album.
This one surprised me. Initially I didn't think much of it, but the more I listened it drew me in. Going with a four but I may have to move it higher after further listening.
I was so happy when this ended and an REM song came on.
Broken hearted that Marianne Faithfull died just recently. This album has been a favorite since its release. She had the voice of a hard-living angel.
Only sad. But that was me. Sad that I listened to this entire infinitely irritating album. I groaned when this one came up, not expecting to see two Tim Buckley albums on the list. This one lived down to my expectations.
Rather boring.
Fast and bulbous indeed. I can definitely appreciate why this isn't everyone's cup of tea, but It's quite enjoyable once you get underneath the thorny surface. Like Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky, what seems to be utter nonsense leaves itself open to many delightful interpretations. You have to be quite good to do something so strange that is willingly dense and lacking in universal appeal. I do admit to being a fan before hearing this thanks to a love of the album Shiny Beast (Bat Chain Puller). That's my five star Beefheart album.
Two classic songs do not a classic album make.
An album too phar.
From ecstasy to Metallica. That's a steep decline.
Sweet Dreams, the song, is undeniable but the album as a whole is somewhat lacking.
Let's call it The Clever Amusement.
A stellar debut.
Clever, idiosyncratic lyrics caught my attention after the first track initially sounded none too promising.
3.5 rounded up. Some.classics mixed with forgettable filler.
Can't get past that voice.
Yes, regardless of how hard I try to like them, is usually a no for me.
Words cannot describe...
